Script Your Future

About the Campaign

In 2011, the National Consumers League (NCL) launched Script Your Future to raise awareness of the importance of taking medications as directed. Script Your Future has aimed to help people with chronic conditions such as cardiovascular disease, respiratory disease (asthma and COPD), and diabetes, along with caregivers and health care professionals, to talk more clearly and effectively about medication adherence.

Script Your Future's national outreach and targeted efforts were launched in six pilot cities: Baltimore, Maryland, Birmingham, Alabama, Cincinnati, Ohio, Providence Rhode Island, Raleigh, North Carolina, and Sacramento, California. Together, the cities have reached millions of Americans through local events, traditional and social media, educational programs by campaign stakeholders, and the campaign website.

Script Your Future Maryland

In 2013, Script Your Future Baltimore created a series of Medication Adherence Experience education events geared toward health care professionals. Through interactive education, the events provided tools and training in skills such as motivational interviewing to local professionals to help their patients better adhere to their medication regimens.

In 2015, Script Your Future Baltimore was adopted by the Maryland Pharmacists Association (MPhA). MPhA has been involved in the coalition since its inception and was instrumental in making connections with many individuals and organizations that became champions of the campaign. The coalition has expanded its Baltimore activities to the entire state of Maryland and has been renamed to Script Your Future Maryland.
