Legislative Day

Thursday, February 16, 2017

Location: Lowe House Building (Baltimore City room) - 6 Bladen St. Annapolis, MD

Buses will drop off at the Lowe Building on Bladen Street and pickup will be near St. Johns.

Legislative Day is the centerpiece of the Maryland Pharmacy Coalition's efforts to send a unified pharmacy message to our legislators in Annapolis. The Coalition organizes position statements on many of the legislative bills affecting pharmacy practice and brings hundreds of student pharmacists and pharmacists together to educate legislators and staff about the importance of pharmacy practice to the public health for the state of Maryland.

The day begins bright and early with a briefing and orientation in the Lowe House Building. All attendees are organized into groups by legislative district and meet with legislators or their staff members during designated appointments. Event participants answer questions about pharmacy practice and education. Every year pharmacy's presence is noticeable and continues to make a strong impact as healthcare issues are discussed in the General Assembly.

This year, keep an eye out for new and innovative ways to participate in the Legislative Day effort. While nothing quite replaces an in-person visit with a legislator, your engagement in supporting pharmacy efforts in the state is valuable. We look forward to your participation this year!
